SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES

Smoking in Public Places

It's well known that people who smoke are at high risk of getting serious illnesses, like chest disease, heart disease and cancer. But evidence suggests that non-smokers can also get these health problems due to breathing in other people's tobacco smoke. The latest figures show that the risk of heart disease among passive smokers is more than double what was previously thought.

After a public consultation there is now a Scotland-wide ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces.
